Jump Start for 6th Graders Information:


What is it? A program designed to prepare your child for middle school procedures, policies and programs.

o   July 22 11am-2pm or 2:30pm-5:30pm
o   July 23 8am-11am, 10:30am-2:30pm, 3pm-6pm
o   July 24: 11am-2pm or 2:30pm-5:30pm
o   Student Social will be held July 22rd at 6pm
o   Parent Info Sessions: July 22 6pm, July 23 6pm
o   Please email tami.lightner@cmcss.net to sign-up a 6th Grader for a Jump Start Session.

Band Field Trip Information to Parents

                                                                        May 6, 2013
Dear Band Parents:
            On Friday, May 10th, we will be taking the top sellers from our fundraiser on the “trip to the movies” prize trip. This is a reward for all the kids who sold 15 items or more.  We will be seeing “the Croods”, a PG rated movie.  We will be leaving Rossview Middle School at about 8:30am and returning to Rossview Middle School after lunch.  I plan on stopping at a fast food restaurant for lunch.  We will provide transportation and cover the cost of the movie. Students will need enough money to pay for their lunch at a restaurant like Taco Bell or Burger King, or maybe the food court at the mall. 
In order for your child to attend this event, the bottom portion of this letter must be filled out and returned by Thursday, May 9th. 
            I will need at least 10 parents to accompany us on this trip as chaperones.  If you can help chaperone this trip please fill out the chaperone form on the back of this letter and return it asap.

RMS Spring Concerts May 7th & May 9th

Our Spring Concerts will be on two nights.  
On Tuesday May 7th, the 7th and 8th
Bands will perform.  The 7th Grade band should arrive at 6pm.  They will begin the performance at 6:30.  The 8th Grade Band will begin at approximately 7:15pm. On Thursday, May 9th,  the  6th Grade, Symphonic, and Jazz Bands will play.  The 6th Grade Band will need to arrive at 6pm.  The concert will begin at 6:30.  The Symphonic Band will begin at approximately 7:15pm. The Jazz Band will begin shortly after the Symphonic concert is over. In this way the concerts will not run too long, making it more enjoyable for everyone.
         We are switching our concert attire for the 6th & 8th grade this year.  The they  will be expected to wear a dress black shirt that tucks into dress black slacks, black socks, and solid black shoes.  The 7th grade will wear the same attire as last year.  Dress white shirt that tucks into your dress black slacks, black socks, solid black shoes.  No dresses or skirts of any kind are allowed.  (see band handbook) 
         The concert performance counts as a performance grade.  Attendance is expected.  Those who have an excused absence   from the performance may make up the grade by writing a 5 paragraph report on a famous composer, or by recording themselves performing the concert music and submitting it to Mr. Ansberry for grading.  (see grading procedures in band handbook)
         The following is a complete schedule for  concert performances:
Tuesday, May 7th
  • 6:00p.m.-- 7th Grade Band arrives for warm-ups
  • 6:30p.m.-- 7th Grade Band concert begins
  • 6:30p.m.--  8th Grade arrives for warm-ups
  • 7:15p.m.--  8th Grade concert begins
Thursday, May 9th
  • 6:00p.m.-- 6th Grade Band arrives for warm-ups         
  • 6:30p.m.-- 6th Grade Band concert begins                                   
  • 6:30p.m.-- Symphonic Band arrives for warm-ups
  • 7:15p.m.-- Symphonic concert begins 8:15pm- -Jazz Band concert begins

RMS welcomes Parents and Students to the Annual County-Wide Spelling Bee. We welcome all parents, students & teachers from all schools to see a good evening of spelling & high competition.
